Today
is the Ides of March,
whatever
that means.
On
the board you wrote the words and then
told
us about Caesar,
who
didn’t listen to some crazy guy in the street
and
so got stabbed
by
a bunch of his friends.
That
sort of sounds familiar.
But
things are different
here
at school.
If
you do listen to the crazy guy
out
in the hall, your friends will all gang up
and
stab you.
And
sometimes it doesn’t even matter
who
you listen to
or
don’t, or
what
you do
or
don’t,
your
smiling friends will still gather around you,
the
sharp knives will still come out.
In
March
or
any other month.
