get sick of teachers telling us that sports don’t matter as much as
school. You’re wrong. Just look around.
What’s
in the trophy cases? Who gets the
biggest crowds at school? Which section
of the newspaper is the biggest? Who’s
on the TV news? What are almost all our
assemblies about? Who gets the band
playing at their events? And the hottest
girls jumping around with half their clothes off? Who gets elected to stuff? Who has the best parties? Who do the little kids want to be like? Who gets decent grades even without doing
much work? Who gets out of school early
on game days? Who travels all over the place? Who gets tons of money from the school
board? Who gets money to go to
college? Who has a hall of fame? A bunch
of them? And billions of people watching
all the time on TV? Who gets paid millions to play a couple of games a
week? I don’t see anybody walking around
wearing a T-shirt with the picture of a famous teacher on it, do you?
And
last … what makes me happier than anything else on this whole boring earth and
in this whole boring school?
