A Sonnet You Made Me Write
A ssignments should be very
short—and fun—
S ince me and other kids don’t like
to write,
S ince I must wait until my
homework’s done
I f I have plans to text with
friends tonight.
“G o to your room and do what you
must do!”
N ow, that is what my parents
always say
E ach evening when our lousy dinner’s
through,
D espite my urge to work … some other day.

work”

N ot that I think I really ought to
shirk—

revolves for me.
E
nough of this! I’m sick of
homework’s trap—
